The US Regulatory QA team provides a quality review function for all local US regulatory reporting requirements, reporting to the head of Regulatory Reporting. Its role primarily involves liaising with Infrastructure including Finance, Regulatory, Operations, Risk, etc., as required, to provide technical analysis and review of regulatory requirements for specific legal entities, products and transactions with US reporting requirements. This includes report preparation, capital requirement and customer reserve calculations, emerging local US regulatory developments, and other relevant matters. The team is also a source of technical expertise for engagement on new regulatory initiatives and provides technical support for regulatory implementation projects.
Main Function
The group performs the following functions:
Regulatory Filing Review: Provide assurance over the completeness, accuracy, and validity of the US regulatory filings by performing a regular review of the filings prior to submission to the Regulators.
Regulatory Policies: Establish and communicate regulatory policies and application guidance for policies owned by US Regulatory reporting, and provide analysis, where appropriate, on policies owned by other areas of the firm.
Regulatory Developments: Inform stakeholders of relevant regulatory developments, including newly-issued proposals, guidance, final rulemakings, or updated internal policies.
Technical Training: Provide training to business and infrastructure areas on relevant and emerging regulatory issues.
Project Support: Support projects from a regulatory policy perspective (eg. implementation of new prudential standards, specific transactions), by providing technical analysis and legislative/regulatory initiative updates..
External Engagement: Participate in, or support, industry and regulatory discussions on regulatory and/or legislative initiatives; including responding to, or supporting, the development of consultation responses and other regulatory requests.
Product/Structure Technical Analysis: Assess structures, products, and specific transactions from a US Regulatory policy perspective, and communicate the impact to Front Office, Finance and other infrastructure groups.
Main Duties
- Assist in the performance of reviews assessing the accuracy and completeness of regulatory reports filed by the US Branches, US non-bank subsidiaries, and the broker dealer.
- Assist in the identification of areas where reporting improvement is needed and monitor remediation efforts
- Assist in the performing reviews of the end to end processes in completing regulatory filings (i.e. report mappings, documentation of adjustments, referential data quality)
- Review and compare the reporting specifications for regulatory reports to the reporting instructions
- Assist in reviewing report automation specifications working with the regulatory production groups and Change Management Teams
- Liaison with other infrastructure areas (Operations, Treasury, Technology, Product Control, Tax, Legal Entity Control) to review source data, identify source data issues and work to resolve/remediate issues
- Prepare summary reports to provide senior management with periodic updates on the reviews and any remediation efforts
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- 3+ years experience in the Financial Services industry
- Must have prior experience in completing financial statements (10K, 10Q), US Bank Regulatory Filings or auditing
- Must have prior experience with investment bank products (i.e. Secured Financing, Derivatives)
- 1+ years Excel experience
- CPA preferred
- Good communication skills, working in teams, and leading projects and processes.
- Experience with Access
- Knowledge of SAP general ledger a plus
